Note from Nicole ~ A Note to my Oldest this Mother's Day

To my biggest boy,
Everyone warned me. They told me I'd feel a love like I've never felt before. They told me I would go to the end of the Earth trying to make you happy. They told me I wouldn't mind staying in on Friday nights because my baby needed to sleep. They told me the middle of the night feedings would turn out to be precious moments for the two of us. I was fairly warned about the amazingness that I was about to encounter, yet I had no idea how much my life would change the second you came into this world.
I will say you put me through the ringer during labor. I should have known right then that you'd continue to give me a run for my money. You are hard headed and stubborn. You challenge my instruction and direction - not to be disobedient, but because you want to learn. You throw tantrums over whether your bath has bubbles in it. You create more crumbs than I knew could exist. You leave your toys in the middle of the stairs for me to trip over. You spill milk on the couch.
But you know what? I love every minute of it. Because without it, I wouldn't have you. Everyone was right. From the first second I held you in my arms, the love I have for you is something so intense, it hurts sometimes. I will go to the end of the world to make you happy. Those middle of the night wakings aren't for feeding anymore, but are still moments in time that are especially for you and me.
You are my baby no matter how big you are. I am your mom, and being your mom is what I was put on this Earth to do. Thank you, baby, for making me a mother. There is no greater gift I could have ever dreamed of.
I love you,
Mom
And a very huge Happy Mother's Day with to all of the moms out there! We see you!
