Energy Burning Fun at DodgeBow Baltimore
Last year, my oldest son turned 10 just seven days after the world shut down. We tried our best to make the day special, but the pandemic had just begun-there were no drive-thru parties, virtual gatherings just wouldn't do. His birthday present was a chartered fishing trip-but that was still months away. It was a really sad birthday celebration.
This year, I was determined to make it awesome-but I had no clue what that meant. We invited a few of his closest friends and told him we were working on a plan. I happened to be scrolling through Facebook when I discovered DodgeBow Baltimore located near Arundel Mills.
Dodgeball + Archery + 11 year-old boys = The coolest birthday celebration EVA.
We arrived 10 minutes before our session where we were greeted by the owners and received protective goggles for the boys to wear with their masks. Once everyone scheduled for the session arrived, the team got started by explaining how the bows work, the rules of the game, and then they got down to business. It was a face-paced, high-energy, race to grab an arrow (one at a time), and get back behind the barriers to hide and shoot at the other team. There were about 16 people on each team (spread out on each side of the gym). Although the boys were the smallest of the group, their team members totally looked out for them and made the experience amazing. It was 45 minutes of high energy, running, shooting, hiding, strategizing, and they were a sweaty exhausted mess after! They loved every minute of it, and I even had a blast watching!
